Borneo, the good, the bad and the ugly
I started this blog some time ago and then I guess life got busy. So I will try again.
The good:
Borneo was an interesting place, people smiled easily and to food was tasty although repetitive. I am so happy to not see chicken and corn soup for some months to come. We never felt threatened and the place has much beauty and colour to show the world.
The bad:
The little known history of the Death March's was quite shocking to learn about and the places where memorials stand have a hush that seems to extend to the animals and birds.
The ugly:
Borneo is known to the tourist world as the place to see Orang-utan’s and yet their life source, the forrest is very threatened. The primates are easy to find because there is no where else for them to shelter. The green forrest behind the thin strip of river lined trees are a death sentence, as there is no food to be found amongst the palm oil trees. The island seems green from above but it a green which feeds our human needs only.
