Is this a new version of grafitti?

We all live in a society where it is harder to stand out from the crowd, and our desire to do so is strong. So, in the past we have left our marks on trees by carving and on buildings, bridges and subways by graffitti painting, both good and bad are there for all to see. They shout "I was here!" Through my travels I have come to notice a new “mark” found at most natural sights and iconic locations, and I ask myself “Is this a new form of graffitti?” It is not naturally formed by the winds and waves. It is placed on purpose and assembled with care to signify that someone was here. It is their mark, so to say. Granted it is better than spray paint and carved initials which are both permanent. But should it be there at all? Should I knock it down and return the location to its full natural state? Or should I leave it? And why do I find myself drawn to take a photo of it? It is grafiti afterall!
