Scotland has very dramatic countryside. Rolling hills which become mountainous, great trees with hanging moss, ferns that hide the bog that feeds them, streams and rivers that gurgle as they tumble over the rocks. These are the ingredients for a dramatic land but the crowning glory and the finishing touch is the sun, when it shows itself, turns this landscape into something awe-inspiring and unforgettable. The previous days of rain are forgotten, even the cold is tolerated when the sun shines through and kisses the hills. It becomes a land full of the promise of something more, something magical or mystical, a land of dragons, unicorns and Harry Potter and even if it is only for a few minutes, you begin to believe and turn your face to its rays to soak up the watery warmth. As the clouds rob the sun from your face you return to reality and turn away from the arctic breeze. This is Scotland.
